Langkawi - Koh Lipe Beach Getaway

Sun, sea and sand was the ideal place for a perfect getaway. It couldn't have been more surreal going with our friends for an annual vacation together. We heard so much of Koh Lipe's beauty and now we are going there for real!

Koh Lipe is an island situated in the southern part of the Thai Andaman Sea. It is blessed with sandy white beaches, crystal clear water and beautiful marine life. There are 3 main beaches in Koh Lipe which are Pattaya Beach, Sunset Beach and Sunrise Beach. During the day, the sunny weather and beautiful beaches awaits one for swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking and island hopping. In the evening, the nightlife in Walking Street of Koh Lipe will come alive. Bars, cafes and restaurants will be crawling with diners and massage parlors are full with people thronging in for a massage of their tired body.

There are several routes of getting to Koh Lipe. We took the Air Asia flight from KLIA 2 to Langkawi and put a night there in a lovely bungalow operated by a Malay couple. We came at a timing where Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) was taking place. It was a first hand experience to see the jets in acrobatic action! Speaking of some thunderous action it was.

We were caught off guard by the water rationing in Langkawi on the next day, before heading to Koh Lipe. Well, at least, we had our minimal personal business done. Hopefully there are plans for better water management in the future. We set off by taking the ferry from Telaga Harbour Terminal which takes approximately 90 minutes to arrive Koh Lipe. While getting off from the ferry to the pier, the island view from afar has already taken our breath away.

The sun rise and sun set view is worth every single second. We woke up 4 am in the morning, still sleepy headed with puffy eyes, with a friendly stray dog tailing us from Pattaya Beach to Sunrise Beach, waited till 6am and voila we caught this stunning sunrise slowly unfolded in front of us.

To enjoy an "authentic" sun set, we took a walk to Sunset Beach. The sun set view definitely lives up to the name of Sunset Beach. We caught the glorious fireball settling down and reminds us it is the end of another beautiful day on the island.

Amidst the beauty of Koh Lipe, we were astonished to find garbage at the island's backyard. We realised that tourism social responsibility is everyone's responsibility, crucial to ensure the beauty of the island is not ruined. If you are visiting, appreciate what mother nature has offered to us and may mankind preserve it for many years to come. We will definitely visit Koh Lipe again with its lasting beauty ingrained in our mind.
